NYC 212 Ad Club Boat Party
Today we are going to take a break from Margie Carroll's funeral service. We returned from Chicago, and I attended the NYC 212 Ad Club Boat party. It's an organization for interactive ad professionals consisting mostly of publishers and ad agency execs. Unfortunately the folks who run 212 wanted to make as much money as possible on the event. Since the ad execs are free and the publishers have to pay, they ended up with a boatload of mostly publishers. Then the Pukes at Microsoft arranged to make sure they had the front of the boat roped off for themselves.
It was a typical July night in NYC; crowded, steamy and a little stinky. To add to the chaos that is NYC; Obama was in town. Part of this short video shows some of the helicopters swirling around. These helos were not carrying some Master of the Universe corporate swine. The end of the video pans to the Brooklyn Bridge where they dropped Obama so he could close the East River Drive for a while.
And on a light note, the video has wonderful shots of Lady Liberty all lit up in the July night.

Too bad your video didn't capture the Beached 90: those of us WITH TICKETS, waiting in line to board, who were bumped for overcrowding/ oversold. I was literally one foot on the gangplank and unceremoniously barre. But had my own rockin' time with other beached agency folks at Half King. Otherwise I would have been a LOT more upset. I'll just have to take a $5 ride on the Staten Island Ferry some night soon to make up for it.
